Forum for Fundraising is guided by a Board of Advisors which consists of some of the most visionary leaders in advancement and development drawn from many areas of professional fundraising. The Board of Advisors serves to guide Forum for Fundraising in its mission to provide senior-level fundraising professionals with the highest quality content and development services available through a central online resource. Our inaugural Board of Advisors, currently serving a three-year term from 2004-2006, includes the following members.

Inez Bergquist, President, Waltman Associates, Minneapolis, MN
Inez is the founder and first president of the American Prospect Research Association (APRA). She has more than 20 years experience as a prospect researcher and consultant to educational institutions, arts organizations, social service agencies and health organizations on prospect research issues. Inez publishes 20 reference directories related to prospect research and is a frequent speaker on the topic.

Tim Burchill, CFRE, VP for University Relations, St Mary's University, Winona, MN
Tim is the president and co-founder of The Metanoia Group, executive director for the Hendrickson Institute for Ethical Leadership, in addition to serving on the faculty of St Mary's University of Minnesota as senior professor. Tim has served in a multitude of leadership positions in the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), including secretary and director of the International Board, and chair of the Ethics, Professional Credential and Career Advancement Committees. He also speaks extensively on Professional Ethics, Board Development and Major Gift issues.

Lona Farr, PhD, ACFRE, Principal, Farr Healy Consulting, Macungie, PA
Lona has more than 30 years of nonprofit management experience and has been nationally recognized for her accomplishments in capital and annual campaigns, planned giving programs, volunteer management, public relations and marketing. Her special expertise is in the area of capital campaigns. She was one of the first fourteen individuals in the country to earn the designation Advanced Certified Fundraising Executive (ACFRE) and is the past chair of the ACFRE Certification Board. Lona has been a member of the adjunct faculties of Moravian and Alvernia Colleges and is an Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) master teacher.

James M. Greenfield, ACFRE, FAHP, Newport Beach, CA
Prior to retirement in February 2001 as Executive Director, Hoag Hospital Foundation, Jim served as a fundraising executive to three universities and five hospitals for 40 years. The author of six books and 40 articles on fundraising management, he is a frequent lecturer and conference speaker on performance evaluation of fundraising methods and techniques. A former President of the AHP New England Region and the AFP California Orange County Chapter, he also served many years as a member of both the AHP and AFP national boards of directors. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Girl Scout Council of Orange County and is a Consulting Member of the Board of Governors at the Center on Philanthropy at Indiana University.

Simone Joyaux, ACFRE, Principal, Joyaux Associates, Foster, RI
Simone provides consulting services in fund development, board and organizational development, and strategic planning to all types and sizes of organizations. Clients include grassroots groups, major institutions, foundations and government agencies. She is a faculty member for the Masters Program in Philanthropy and Fund Development at St. Mary's University, Minnesota. She regularly serves as a board member of various organizations. During her tenure as Chair of CFRE International, the baseline certification program for fundraisers worldwide, the program achieved its independence and established itself internationally. She is the founder of the Women's Fund of Rhode Island. Simone travels frequently to speak about fund development, planning, and organizational development and is the author of Strategic Fund Development: Building Profitable Relationships that Last.

Ted Hart, ACFRE, ePMT, President and CEO, ePhilanthropy Foundation, Washington, DC
Ted is founder and president of the ePhilanthropy Foundation, headquartered in Washington D.C. He has served as CEO of the University of Maryland Medical System Foundation, and before that as chief development officer for Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. Certified as an Advanced Certified Fund Raising Executive (ACFRE) by the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) since 1992, Ted serves on the AFP International Board of Directors. Prior to that he served as the AFP Foundation Board Treasurer. In addition to Fundraising on the Internet, he is the author of several published articles and a contributing author to the book Achieving Excellence in Fund Raising, Second Edition. Ted is considered one of the foremost authorities on the use of the Internet in Development.

Barbara Mulville, CFRE, VP External Affairs, Southcoast Healthcare System, New Bedford, MA
Barbara has spent much of her career working with Healthcare and Academic institutions in development, community relations, marketing, media relations, board recruitment, public affairs, publications and capital campaign administration. Her service to the profession includes chair, past chair, treasurer and member of the Board of Trustees for the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP). Barbara speaks and writes on Major Gifts, Board Development, Strategic Planning and Fundraising as a Profession.

John Scales, VP for Development, Columbia University Medical Center, New York, NY
Before joining Columbia, John was vice president for Development at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, Texas, and prior to that he served for eight years as vice chancellor for Institutional Advancement at the University of Houston System. Highlights of his fundraising career include directing highly successful capital campaigns at Baylor and at the University of Houston System. A recipient of numerous professional awards, John also volunteers his development expertise to several organizations including the United Way Fund Development Task Force and the Association for Community Television in Houston. He is a member of Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP) and Association for Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP).

Bradford Wm. Voigt, CFRE, VP for Development, Peabody Essex Museum, Salem, MA
Brad has a more than 20-year career in nonprofit administration and development, working as an institutional officer. He is also associated with the consulting firms Sargent, Palmer, Voigt, Ltd. and The Galler Group. During his career, he has directed twelve capital campaigns for nonprofit organizations. Most recently, at the Kennedy School, he directed a $125 million capital campaign that overachieved its goal by 66 percent, raising $208 million as part of Harvard University's precedent-setting $2.6 billion campaign. Brad served on the National Board of Directors of the Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), and was president of the Massachusetts Chapter. He is ais a frequent lecturer and presenter at regional, national and international conferences, as well as an author of numerous articles about fundraising.
